We’re kicking things off by comparing the most important aspect of these microphones: audio quality. Both the DJI Mic and DJI Mic 2 are designed to deliver impeccable audio with omnidirectional audio recording, however, DJI Mic 2 sports some subtle yet impactful improvements over its predecessor.
The DJI Mic 2 introduces 32-bit float internal recording, a feature first-generation DJI Mic users have been clamouring for. 32-bit float recording opens up a wider recording range, ideal for those that want to capture all the details and edit their audio files.
Also of note is the increased max sound pressure of the DJI Mic 2 at 120 dB SPL compared to the 114 dB SPL of DJI Mic. This allows users to record in noisier environments without compromising audio quality.
